The Creative Fellowship Craft Ministry welcomes any member of the parish to join to share their skills and their Catholic faith, while enjoying the friendship of fellow parishioners! As we grew, it became obvious that there was much talent within the group and thus began crafting for fun, charity and profit as well as spiritual fellowship. Men and women both are welcome and there is a wide age of participants, from great-grandparents to new parents. A variety of skills are shared: knitting and crocheting, weaving, woodworking, pottery, jewelry making, sewing and new artisan skills are frequently introduced.
Gatherings are in Room 205 of the St. Peter Catholic Church’s Spiritual Life Center Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30; however, there are no set rules in this regard and members come when they can and leave when they must. We also have Craft Fairs and service projects throughout the year! Our “Fall Project” is one of our main contributions to the community. We accept lap blankets and shawls throughout the year from members and parishioners. They are for donations to homebound, assisted living and nursing home residents here in Pitt County at Christmas time.
Heart to Heart project is another project we do together! The material is cut in the shape of hearts, sewn together and offered in pairs to the neo-natal care unit at ECU Health. Parent and baby receive a pair of hearts. We have also provided baby blankets to the Carolina Pregnancy Center here in Greenville, and whenever called upon, to assist other Parish organizations.
