FIRST RECONCILIATION AT ST. PETER'S

Receiving Christ’s mercy

FIRST RECONCILIATION PREP

In order to receive First Reconciliation, students must be enrolled in our parish school or part of our Religious Education program.

PARDON AND PEACE

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

As your child approaches the age of reason, they begin to know the difference between right and wrong. At this age, the Church introduces this great sacrament of mercy, to give children the opportunity to be forgiven of any wrongdoing and receive the grace to avoid sin in the future.

Although the thought of going to confession for the first time might be scary, we spend a lot of time teaching the students in our program that this sacrament is utmost about God’s love and mercy. In fact, we work hard with parents’ help to have our students look forward to the sacrament with joy!

At St. Peter’s, children begin preparing to receive First Reconciliation in Grade 1, with reception of the sacrament taking place in the winter of Grade 2. Please make sure you are enrolled in the Year 2 Flocknote group for updates.

If your child is older and has not received First Reconciliation, contact us and we will work with you to catch your student up! If you are an adult who was baptized but has not received First Reconciliation, our OCIA program can help you in preparing to receive this wonderful sacrament!

BEEN A WHILE SINCE YOU'VE BEEN TO CONFESSION?

Please do not be afraid to come back and receive Christ’s forgiveness and mercy! Trust us, it is such a freeing and healing sacrament. Check out our Confession Times page for a refresher on how to go to Confession.
